About Me

Myriam Zamy is a New York–based singer, actor, and dancer. Though born and raised in Brookings, South Dakota, she made a couple of stops in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Sioux Falls, SD, and finally Tyler, TX, where her family has since planted roots.

Creativity has basically been Myriam’s middle name since birth. Before it became clear that music and performance would become her passion, her mother thought that maybe she would be a writer. She carried around a little notebook where she would write anything and everything, including stories, plays, and songs. Dreaming and playing, she has always been eager to create and even more eager to share.

Growing up shy and creative was hard. All she wanted to do was share but felt like she could not. The upside was that she got involved in anything she could get her hands on. She learned how to play three instruments, viola, clarinet, and piano, joined her school’s band, orchestra, and choir, and took Taekwondo lessons. Of course, none of this was easy, and she had to fight to maintain it all while keeping up with her studies, but it awakened her love for being busy, especially when doing what she loves.

Her journey with musical theatre took off when she moved to Sioux Falls and discovered the local children’s theatre, where she participated in shows for five years. She auditioned for Shrek the Musical and was cast as the Frog Princess in the fairytale creature ensemble. She will never forget the feeling of stepping onto the stage and performing for an audience. The feeling of being a part of something bigger than herself still touches her to this day.

When she moved to Texas before her sophomore year of high school, it was definitely a hard adjustment, but she knew she could always rely on her art. She jumped into her school’s theatre club, where she dove deep into the world of straight plays, and joined the choir, where she went on to become a four year TMEA All State Choir member. During this tough chapter, her belief that music and the performing arts would always be there for her was truly solidified. Music helped and healed her, and now she strives to help heal others.

Myriam has yet to meet a vocal challenge she could not conquer. She has moved from choral singing to musical theatre to pop and rock to opera, and that list is only growing. She can shift from soulful to angelic to smoky to penetrating with remarkable ease. As her vocals grow, so do her acting and dancing skills. Most commonly, you can see her showing off her ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and musical theatre dance skills, though blink and you might just miss her whipping out a little tap.

Myriam’s performance quality has been described as confident, grounded, powerful, versatile, comedic, and explosive — all of which relate to the central statement of why she does what she does: she has the power to make people feel.
